But I'm not sure if the game is even worth it since I'm sure that playing it online is the whole point right?

I've been wanting to get into Monster Hunter but I didn't care for the demo since it wasn't that fun to me when no one sticks together and Tries to be the hero all the time. But I'm not sure if the game is even worth it since I'm sure that playing it online is the whole point right?
Not necessarily, tons of people play it solo. I myself went through most of the game solo until late to end game.
Monsters have lower health when solo and they become easier to manage.

I know my brother played the game entirely offline and he had fun.

Your reason for not liking the multiplayer is really strange though. Just play with some people from the website you're posting on.

Not really, i'm introvert in both real life and online. I get anxious especially with people I don't know so I prefer playing soloYour reason for not liking the multiplayer is really strange though. Just play with some people from the website you're posting on.

I can honestly say for me that the series is not worth it just for SP, but i've played many entries in the series so that fatigue on that stuff is probably much higher for me than it would be for you, probably.

I finished the game solo but it's much more fun with other people and it's easier to grind for matsNot really, i'm introvert in both real life and online. I get anxious especially with people I don't know so I prefer playing solo
For what it's worth, you don't need to do any communication in MH. The first thing I did when I started the game is to mute off the voice chat. The only communication I do in the game is sending sticker and premade shoutout after each hunt.
As to your question, solo is fine, but like other said the game really shines in MP. 90% of my hunt consist of playing with randoms, and majority of it just dicking around doing random hunt lol.
There is also two monsters designed around multiplayer (both are post launch monsters).

It would be a lot more fun to play with others once you learn the basics, than just go multiplayer blindly.

I think you mean to reply to OP and not to me, i'm just explaining why people are a bit iffy to playing online with others. For what it's worth, you don't need to do any communication in MH. Sad I can't do the multiplayer hunts solo though.
Anyway it's a LOT of fun solo, and balanced really well. Highly recommended.
Some difficulty spikes (beware anything with horns...), but if I can surpass them - and believe me I suck at games these days - then you can too!

You should probably just get Plus though.

I've played a lot of mon hun games and the only one I really multi-played a lot was mh4.

While I enjoy playing with others too, there are only a one monster I consider that you really need others to enjoy.

I don't get the idea that "no one sticks together and Tries to be the hero all the time". You're not competing with anyone, you don't get an advantage for doing certain things instead of others. And you don't need to focus all the time on just one monsters. Sometimes it's better to spread out and take the easier monsters on your own, then regrouping to focus on the later monsters, which usually are tougher.
That being said, the game can be soloed and it plays just fine, like any other MonHun. But, as others have said, playing with others only enhances the game.
I would have trouble dragging myself through one of these games with randoms online, let alone by myself. You need somebody there to distract you from the repetitiveness and share your pain when the thing you need doesn't drop for the eighth fucking time. Monster Hunter is a game to played with friends or not at all.
Strongly disagree. I have never played with anyone I know and have thoroughly enjoyed it.
Yeah, when you do a fight solo the enemies aren't as tough as they would be in a multiplayer match.I know my brother played the game entirely offline and he had fun.
Enemies only scale up to two players. So having a 3 or 4 hunter party will make them easier than having two people, or even doing it solo, since your DPS is much, much higher.

Excluding a couple of monsters they added later which seem to be exclusively designed around multiplayer. Idk about those.

I played both a lot, about two thirds of my play time was in MP, but I played like 500 hours, and only really started doing MP after the story stuff.

The whole game is coop for me. It'd be incredibly boring single.player.

I do recommend trying to play it with other people as it is good there too. Even better if you play with friends.
I personally play solo most of the time.
- #37
I played the whole game solo. I only tried to play the Behemoth MP since it does not scale for solo. It was not a fun experience since people carted left and right.
(I should say that I think the game would be amazing playing with a friend though)

what are mats? I'm assuming that the game rewards you with rare items or materials to enhance your character
but , can I just beat the last boss with the default weapons a.k.a no need to grind?
I never upgrade weapons in games when I know they are easy ( like dragons dogma, my first run was only using what the game threw at me)
and never grinding upgraded or cared to look at what weapons were the strongest and where to find them.

I'll be honest with you: I'm not sure Monster Hunter is the game for you if you're not big on upgrades and crafting. The entire gameplay loop is based on grinding for materials to create and upgrade weapons and armor. Can I beat the solo campaign without having to grind?

You need upgraded material that's the whole gameplay loop.
Might not be a game for you

Some people say monsters are harder solo, but they're completely wrong. This game is so much easier solo.

I played most by myself though. Feel free to join the Discord to ask for advice!

If I did, I don't think I'd have finished it.

So yeah, for me, it's worth it even if you don't have plus, and you should really play it.

Funny enough, the game is harder if you play in a duo than playing solo, or with two or three other people because of how the HP of the monsters scales.
